Check what version of File OE and Block OE on VNX?
Hey,
How do I check what version of File OE and Block OE I currently have on my VNX? How do I upgrade them both, or is that an EMC support engineering task?
Thank you,

Hi,
Please check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e06QSy-Rils,it explains about the upgrade.
And try this commands to check the OE version:
For file:
nas_version
For block:
/nas/sbin/navicli -h spa getagent
Thanks
Jyothi

Lastly,
It appears you need Unisphere Service Manager to date the VNX. I am guessing that this is not installed on the VNX by default? This software has to be installed on a Remote Windows workstation? This is what I find when I search for USM: UnisphereServiceManager-Win-32-x86-loc-1.3.2.1.0051-1 . Does this look correct?
Thank you

yes, install it, it will download the latest code and then use to upgrade the system.

Is there a way to check the file and block level in the Unisphere GUI, for a simpleton like me?

Yes, you can see it in the dashboard to the right upper side of it.

If you mean an audit trail of what software was updated with from and to versions, and when: not that I know of unless you document it.
As mentioned above, you can check the current version several ways. And I will add that if you have used USM to do the updates, that you can probably identify the date of the last update by looking in the USM repository; there is a folder for diagnostic data, and each array should have a file present that was created during the last service (unless it was collected manually since then...).
If you looked at the files on an SP there are probably 'breadcrumbs' that you could pick up there that might help you re-construct an upgrade history, perhaps someone else can provide some insight into that possibility.
