Difference between Normal LUN and Thick LUN ?

Hi,

Just need to know, what is the difference between Thick LUN and Normal LUN.

When i was going through Unisphere Help, i found that "Thick LUNs cannot be used in the Write Intent Log, or as a clone private LUN. They can be included in the reserved LUN pool"

Just curious to know is there any difference between the Thick LUNs that we create in Pools and LUNs that we create using RAID Group...

Please help.....

Thick LUNs are built on a pool, out of 1 GB extents, each of which has a 1:1 mapping of LBA in the chunk to LBA in the LUN. Multiple Thick LUNs can share a pool so their extents will be jumbled together across the proivate RAIDgroups that comprise the pool.

A FLU (Flare LUN) is built as a contiguous partition across all the drives of a single RAID group. Hence it is a 1:1 mapping from LBA0 to LBAend - one big extent.
