You can try the command "arrayconfig -duplicate -input file.xml.  From the Command Reference from Block, page 67:

◆ The model number on the targeted system must be exactly the same as the source.

◆ The targeted system must have at least the same number of disks as the source (includes all RAID groups).

◆ The disk enclosure numbers and slot numbers should exactly match the source (includes all RAID groups).

◆ Drive types must match.

◆ The size of the targeted disks must be equal to or greater than the size of the source disks.

Software availability

◆ The targeted system must have all the system and Unisphere software packages available in the source system.

Logical components

The target system must be in a logically clean state. If any of the following components are available, the target is not considered clean and the command will fail:

◆ RAID groups

◆ LUNs

◆ User-created storage groups

Note that it won't create SnapView sessions or SAN Copy info.  I'd also expect any Domain authentication or LDAP would also have to be reconfigured, since the certificates will be gone.

Just to be clear, the strategy mentioned only would duplicate the array configuration.  The actual data would need to be restored once the LUNs were reassigned to the hosts.

Apologies if when you presented your scenario this was already considered, and I may have just stated the obvious.  I'm thinking that you already were aware of this and you were planning to restore from, say, backup.

We want to duplicate the configuration from older array to new array.

All physical components/hardware are same as mentioned above.

Only thing is our firmware on both boxes is different.I hope it should not be an issue.

Will it still work,duplicating the configuration,even if firmwares of both boxes arw different:

As long and the part/model numbers of the different components are the same (disk model numbers especially) then the flare code should not be an issue. When you run the command to configure the new array, if there are any differences the program will halt and explain the differences.

I want to know while duplicating the configuration from an older arry to newer array,will it copy the IP address of the older SPA to the newer also?We don't want Ips to get copied.

I'm pretty sure that the IP's are not configured.
