Do we need to assign a Global Template for Centralized Monitors ?

Hi,

We have set up an ESRS IP Client for monitoring the EMC VNX5100 SAN.

We find that the Global Templates being used is "Call_Home_Template_7.32.0.1".    Unfortunately, we have accidentally stopped using that template.

Is there any way we can add it back OR we don't need to specify a Global Template ?

Thanks

Hi,

Yes you need a global template with ESRS IP.

You can add it back through Unisphere by right clicking on the Management station in the 'Centralized Monitors' thumbnail, option 'Select Global Template' .

Hi,

When I select Global Template, I am not able to select "Call_Home_Template_7.32.0.1" but only "New Template".  Is it OK ?

I guess the consultant creates "New Template" when he sets up the system for us.

Thanks

Hi,

You should be able to assign any template that is listed in the 'Notifications Templates' thumbnail.

Is 'Call_Home_Template_7.32.0.1' listed in this pane ?

If yes, you should go the template properties by entering engineering mode and check that the last thumbnail ConnectEMC is checked and EMC email home is left empty.

Otherwise you could try to import a new template using a .tpl file that your consultant or an emc engineering can provide as they are preconfigured by EMC to work with ESRS IP.

Then, you can assign it as global template.

Finally, if this is a GUI issue that would not allow you to select the template, you can start with restarting management server of your SP through http://

# eventmonitor -monitor -applytemplate [-server hostname] [-system system

name] -templatename templatename

OPTIONS

-server hostname

Applies the template to the specified centralized monitor as a global template.

-system system name

Applies the template to the specified distributed monitor. If you specify both the server

and the system, it applies the template to the specific system monitored by the centralized

monitor.

-templatename templatename

Specifies the template name.

Additionals details about naviseccli eventmonitor command can be found in the Command_Reference_for_Block

Since you are using ESRS u don't need to assige global templet . For centralize monito u can make one cx or vnx  master domain. and all other cx or vnx will be same domain. But if u use phone line u need "Call_Home_Template ".
