Drives 0-4 on CX500 - safe to replace?

Hi

Let me preface this by saying I have zero experience with EMC products, but we have an old CX500

It appears that drive 4 has failed.  Drives 0-4 are covered with a sticker that says "caution: array software on drives 0-4. Removing or relocating will make the array unusable"

Does this mean I cannot replace the failed drive if I have a spare (like you normally would with failed drives in a raid array)?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, it is safe to replace the failed drive in the vault area. However, you will need to follow the proper replacement procedure and use the Navisphere Service Taskbar (NST).

The procedure is available at  http://www.emc.com/clariionsupport.

You can download the current version of Navisphere Service taskbat (NST) from Powerlink.
