Extending NTFS File server LUN on top of Storage Pool without data loss ?
Hi people,
Can anyone here please suggest me what is the best step to extending 1 TB NTFS LUN that I have presented on my VNX 5300 array as file server LUN into 4 TB without data loss or downtime ?
The 1 TB LUN is currently presented to the ESXi hosts as physical RDM attached to the file server Virtual Machine.

can you check disk type in disk management, if it's not GPT you won't be able to extend beyond 2TB

Dynamox,
The partition Style according to Windows Disk management console when I right click says MBR or Master Boot Record.
So is there any way to do it ?

ok, you will need to convert to GPT if you want to extend this partition to 4TB. Typically it requires that you delete all data from the partition, delete the existing partition and then create a new GPT one. If you google there are some tools that "promise" MBR > GPT tools without data loss. I have never used one so i would test it out first before you do it in production.
