Failed Controllstation installation
Hello @ all,
i´ve tried to make a new installation of the controllstation.
The install fails with the following message:
A valid partition exists on LUN 0. Performing a fresh install would result
in loss of system data. If you are sure you want to perform a fresh install,
you must zero out LUN 0 and try again. Exiting install...
Type 'C' to Continue.
How do i zero out LUN 0? Can anyone help me?
Thanks a lot.

If the control volume is
Thin : Unmap the device, unbind the device, rebind the device then map the device to the front end port as LUN 0.
Thick : Unmap the device and map the device to the front end port as LUN 0.

If the Control luns are not zeroed before the File OE re-install it will also fail at the step below:
A valid partition exists on LUN 0. Performing a fresh install would result in loss of system data. If you are sure you want to perform a fresh install, you must zero out LUN 0 and try again. Exiting install...
Type 'C' to continue: Type 'C' to continue:
To fix this:
1. Press C and the CS will take you to the login prompt.
2. login as root
3. Execute the command below to zero all the control LUNS 0,4 and 5.
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/nda bs=1M count=100
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/nde bs=1MB count=2000
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/ndf bs=1MB count=63k
Please note this may take some time for the third command to complete as the /dev/ndf size is 134217344 KB
After this is done continue with the FILE OE re-install.

Thanks this worked.
Execute below commands:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/nda bs=1M count=100
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/nde bs=1MB count=2000
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/ndf bs=1MB count=63k
After running these command make sure you reboot the control station & restart the File OE installation
P.S> do not directly ersume the File OE script post executing the commands, reboot is required.

Hi!
Sorry for necroposting.
I'm trying to reinstall my CS as well.
So I zero out these 3 LUNs, and after reboot installation ends with error:

This is different issue than zeroing the control luns.
Control Luns appears trespassed and also appears not seeing the disks. Raising a support ticket is the easiest way here.
Anyway, if you get the prompt, check the DM is booted ( /nasmcd/getreason) , check the HBA status ( /nasmcd/sbin/t2tty -c 2 "fcp show", Disks (/nasmcd/sbin/t2tty -c 2 "camshowconfig") - If no /nasmcd directory, /tftpboot also will have the commands.

We out of support on this VNX, so I'm on my own here
One of Control LUNs is trespassed, and I can't trespass it back nor in GUI nor in navicli - it says no such LUN
NaviSECCli.exe -user sysadmin -password sysadmin -scope 0 -h 10.209.101.3 trespass lun 4095
Error: trespass command failed
LUN does not exist
So here is a output:
# /nasmcd/getreason
6 - slot_0 control station ready
4 - slot_2 configured
4 - slot_3 configured
# /nasmcd/sbin/t2tty -c 2 "fcp show"

Is there a manual to reinstall CS correctly, and take in account all pre requirements, and to troubleshoot known cases?

/nasmcd/sbin/t2tty -c 2 "camtrespass c0t0l0"
That above command will trespass the lun back to spa on chain 0.
I dont think you will find a manual for this kind of CE's activities. Even Knowledge articles also most likely visible to CEs only.
