How to create Home Directory with Celerra NS-G8

Hi,

I have 1500 users and I want to create a home directory for each user with NAS environment (Size of Home Directory = 50 Gb per user)

I want also to activate virtual provisioning in the file system that houses theses Home Directory in order to reduce Home Directory volume

To be explain more; each user have a home directory that displayed 50 Gb but in reality this Home Directory present 20 Gb or 30 Gb depends on percentage of the virtual provisioning already defined.

To achieve this purpose, I think that we have 3 approaches:

          -the shared drive approach

          -the unique shares approach

          -the celerra Home Directory approach

In our case, I want to use the 3rd approach (Celerra Home Directory approach) and I didn't find the way to do this.

Could you please help me, thanks

I would suggest to use the support forum - you are much more likely to get a good answer there

I would suggest to start by looking at the Celerra Home Directory White Paper - available from Powerlink

This feature mainly avoids having to have thousands of user shares around

To solve your 50GB size requirement the easiest would be to create a default user quota of 50GB for that file system

I dont remember what a CIFS client then sees as "free disk"

You could also create a treequota per user (max 8191 per file system) but I think user quotas are less work to setup
