How to rescan the FC bus with SLES11 Linux ??
We have several HP BL460 G7 blades and standalone DL385/585 boxes running SLES11SP1 Linux. Attached to CX3-80 and VNX thru Brocade FC SAN.
There doesn't seem to be any usable way to get these systems to re-scan the FC bus to pick up a newly added LUN. A reboot will work but we can't live like that. None of the methods that worked on our SLES9 boxes work in this case. The rescan-scsi-bus.sh will not discover the new LUNs. We've tried with both mpio and powerpath for multipathing. Neither one of these will work until the OS/driver sees the new device. There is a rescan script from Qlogic that work 67% of the time. When it doesn't crash the box. Nothing work with Emulex HBAs.
What are other people on a current Linux using to rescan for new FC LUNs ??
thanks,
Don M.

we are using these on RedHat boxes
echo "1" > /sys/class/fc_host/host0/issue_lip
echo "- - -" > /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/scan
echo "1" > /sys/class/fc_host/host1/issue_lip
echo "- - -" > /sys/class/scsi_host/host1/scan

I would try the Clariion forum for a question like that

CX4 is not VNX
Besides I think there are more knowledgable SAN guys active in the Clariion forum

it's ok, i know you are supposed to say that.
active passive array - check
running flare - check
spa/spb - check
support for fast cache - check
so you have faster backend and datamovers bolted on top of it, i rest my case
