Is flushing the dns cache on a vnx data mover disruptive?

Hi. I'm working to resolve what started as a network issue and it was suggested that I flush the DNS on the VNX datamover.  The manual says to issue a server_dns with option 'stop' , then 'flush' .  Is flushing the dns cache on a vnx datamover disruptive? Thanks. DB

Hi,

You don't need to stop/disable access to the DNS server if you want to clear/flush the cache!

Flushing the DNS cache for the VNX DM is NOT disruptive .. all of what you need is to connect to the CS and issue the following command ONLY:

server_dns -option flush

This command will clear the cache of the DNS information saved on a Data Mover.
