MirrorView/Async on VNX Series Setup Guide
Hi,
I found MirroView/Sync on VNX series Setup Guide. But I could not find for Async on VNX series. Can you please locate the link to download the document setup guide for Async on VNX series?
Thanks.

Hello,
I recommend checking the MirrorView White Paper. On the support site (https://support.emc.com), search for 'White Paper: MirrorView Knowledgebook 30 - 33 - A Detailed Review'. In that document, in the MirrorView management section (pages 55 to 69), you'll find a guide on how to manage mirrors.
Another option is to check the Help section in Unisphere itself. In there, search for 'Create a remote asynchronous mirror' (or navigate from How do I protect data > Replicate block storage LUNs on a remote storage system).
Finally, a useful KB article about MirrorView guides is https://support.emc.com/kb/17061.
I hope this helps.

Refer to the whitepaper: http://www.emc.com/collateral/hardware/white-papers/h2417-mirrorview-know-cx-series-flare-wp-ldv.pdf

I tried to access KB/17061 and I got access denied. I have partner access and I am not sure why. Is this possible for you to print it as pdf and attach it?... Thanks...

Hi,
Actually, this article is like a reference for many other linked articles inside. So, if you have a problem accessing the Knowledge Base articles, a PDF version will not help. For checking why your account can't access KBs, you can email support@emc.com describing this problem.
As for the mirror guide, I still think the first two options (the White Paper and Unisphere Help) can help guide you on how to set up MirrorView.

Yes. Customer needed help with MirrorView/Async. We need to reconfigure MirrorView network and so on. They have file and block replicate across the WAN with MirrorView.

If they are using MirrorView/Async to replicate file systems that are served from the VNX data mover than its not something that is EMC supported

why are you asking - is this for an actual implementation ?
For VNX file (NAS) use only MV/S is supported

For Block level MirrorView will give you best performance and File level you can use VNX Replicator with better granularity at FS level. However, MirrorView/S and MirrorView/A both are supported.

MirrorView/Async is definitely NOT supported with VNX file (Celerra) - only MirrorView/Sync.
I you dont believe me look at the "Using MirrorView/Synchonous with VNX for file for Disaster Recovery".
In table 4 it lists all of the DR, HA and replication products that are supported with VNX file.

Hi Rainer,
Logically it doesn't make any sense to me. If EMC supports MirrorView/S with VNX File, why not MirrorView/A. Is it due to the reason (as I have read a few times) that EMC doesn't support in case of longer distance, if data gets lost with iSCSI or FC, or may be the limitation with Data Mover.
Have a look on the snap. It's from one of the white papers
