NFS file system copy slow should I increase v3xfersize?
Hi,
Some of the dbas are complaining that their copy job for an installation over a Unified vnx5700 nfs mount point is dreadfully slow. I looked at the data-mover stats and found that it was not close to reaching any limit. I am not sure where else to look quite honestly. the rsize, wsize are 32726, should I increase that, and if I do, do I have to increase a parameter on the data mover as well?
Thanks!
Benita

First check what the v3xfersize current values is on your system – in newer VNX OE version the default is depending on your data mover type/memory
If you already are using 32k then I don’t think that’s the cause of “dreadfully slow”
I would suggest to check your networking stats on client, switch and VNX
Server_stats can also tell you what NFS IO size your clients are currently using – see man server_stats

You might also consider what mount options your NFS servers are using. Can you post their mount string? Usually, I try to set "noatime", unless my UNIX admins are sure they need it.
Let us know what you find!

I don't see the value when I list server_stats for that data mover.

Its included in one of the collections – use the option to list the full list of stats
