Query on VNXe3200 host configuration?

Hi All,

We configured VNXe 3200 array and directly attached Microsoft Windows Hyper-v Hosts with Iscsi connectivity.

Now i want to know ,How to identify Microsoft Hyper-v host in VNXe 3200 Array.i.e how many ip's are required for Host NIC .Is one IP address enough  for two port NIC card  or two IP Address are required for each NIC port in direct connectivity scenario?

2)And is there any option for Lun migrate from one tier to another tier in VNXe 3200?

Thanks in Advance

Hi Mahesh,

1) For multipathing configuration, it is always recommend to work with multiple IPs. Please have a look at below document URL:

https://support.emc.com/docu52703_Using_a_VNXe3200_System_with_Fibre_Channel_(FC)_or_iSCSI_LUNs.pdf?language=en_US

Note: MCS is not supported with VNXe3200 so you need to use native MPIO configuration.

2) LUN migration is not possible on VNXe3200 as this feature is not supported. You may use FAST VP feature which will keep different tier of drives in single storage pool and manage blocks according to its access hit.

Thanks Swapnil for the quick reply.

as you mean to say that for each NIC port seperate IP Address required.?

If so,Can we manage with single IP address for dual port NIC card and can we discover host on VNXe with the help of IQN?

When you configure multipathing (which you really always should) each ISCSI i/f on the vnxe must have 2 ip addresses. For HA, they should be on different subnets.
