Setting up NFS on VNX5300

I think I've gotten all of the steps completed to setup an NFS share on the VNX.  I'm stumbling on the network connectivity.  The network file interface is cge-1-0.  The cli shows that the interface is up.  If I ping the IP from the cli, I get nothing.  But if I do a server_ping it replies.

What is missing?

Problem was that the interface was set to VLAN 3, the correct VLAN on the switch.  Evidently that doesn't work as changing the VLAN to 0 worked.

CLI is the command line interface of the VNX.

so you are sitting on the control station and pinging the interface you assigned to cge-1-0 ?

Correct.  Also tried ping from the switch and a Windows client.

Hi.

I think the following should be very helpful for you...  an online help tool you can load onto your PC.  This one is for the 8.1 series of File Code.

https://support.emc.com/docu48494_VNX-Unisphere-Online-Help-1.3.htm?language=en_US

Here is the one specifically for the VNX1 series which includes the VNX 5300

https://support.emc.com/docu42063_VNX-Unisphere-Online-Help-1.2.htm?language=en_US

There are others for different code revisions and other various products for EMC.  Very handy.

Yes.  I can't even ping the gateway or the management IP from the data mover.

Not sure if this will help you or not...  but -

Restricting access by VLAN

You can limit exported file system access to hosts that belong to a specific VLAN by setting the vlan option. Hosts on other VLANS are denied access. You can specify a single VLAN or multiple VLANs.

Only NFS users with UNIX security (AUTH_SYS) can use this procedure to restrict exported file system access to hosts. This procedure cannot be used by users or systems with Kerberos authentication.

Best Wishes
