Storage Group LUN Limit - VNX7500
What is the LUN limit that can be added to a Storage group on a VNX7500 Array. Any documentation or primus to verify the value will help a lot. Thanks in advance. I have seen a RecoverPoint primus which states VNX7500 supports up to 4096, but want to validate it.

Please refer to the datasheet "EMC VNX Series Unified Storage Systems":

Please check article 16014:
https://emc--c.na5.visual.force.com/apex/KB_HowTo?id=kA0700000004Jhv
For Pre-FLARE 29, the maximum number of LUNs in a Storage Group is 256.
For FLARE 29 and later, the maximum number of LUNs in a storage group depends on the the storage system type:

Despite the absolute maximum of 1024 luns in a VNX7500 Storage group, be aware that many Host OS do not support more then 256 luns, hence be aware when assinging HLU's > 255!

Thank for the responses. But take a look at the primus emc298214 which states that maximum number of LUNs in a storage group depends on Storage Model and with VNX7500 we can have up to 4096 LUNs in a storage group? OR does it say 4096 is the SG size for VNX7500..what is the size value then GB/TB ?
We are hit by a limit of 1024 on a RP SG in VNX7500 ( VNX shows max # of LUN exceeded error) and as per this article, it may be possible to add upto 4096 devices ?
Another primus emc298216 does not state what is the newly adjusted values on the RP devices.

Narahari,
Per Storage group the VNX7500 has a limit of 1024 luns. I understand that the Storage Group for your RPA environment is reaching this limit.
The RPA environment has the ability to generate up to 16 virtual WWN's per RPA. This will allow you to create up to 16 Storage groups for your RPA environment. I presume that 16 x 1024 luns will be enough ;-)
For the correct procedure have a look at page 383 of the manual: docu40288_RecoverPoint-3.5-Administrator's-Guide
Here it described the procedure to create the virtual wwn's.
Hope this helps,

Ruud,
Thanks for confirming the storage group LUN limit for VNX75k. I'm aware of the procedure to generate virtual WWNs on the RPAs to overcome the SG limitations of the Array. But the primus emc298214 was confusing as it claims VNX75K can support upto 4096 devices. Yes 16x1024 LUNs will be good enough for us as VNX75k supports 8192 LUNs max.
