Unable to create a filesystem on a metavolume

Rakesh, Im running the commands at the right place, The data movers are connected via internal network within the VNX, we cannot take ssh of DM, The commands are run on CS only...

What are you exactly trying to do. Is it VNX 5200 Unified  (as you have tagged it)? What I think is you are trying to crease a FS on Control Station ? CS doesn't house any FS. You need to create a FS on DM. Look at the commands once more & be sure where to run them & for what purpose.

i have verified with EMC support, my commands are correct. there is some other issue.

The command for creating the FS does not need specifying the DM, But in the command for mounting we have to specify as below.

server_mount server_2 fsname /mountpoint

FS is not created on DM, it can be mounted on any DM.

What am I saying is the argument is incorrect. what CS understands is that you are trying to mount or create FS on itself. Just give the server name (like server_2 for DM) with argument. Or if you have GUI use that.

Just check the file level CLI with "Command Line Interface Reference for File P/N 300-011-841 REV A01" on Google or look for 8.0.. Cause I believe VNX-2 runs on file OE 8.0 and above.

I assume you realize you are posting in the VNXe forum - 5200 is a VNX so people would expect questions from that going into the VNX forum (without the trailing e)
