VNX 7500.. Storage Pool Allocation question

I am looking for some help on Storage Pool for VNX 7500..

I have 2 storage pools Block and File each 40TB.. and 10 TB in each of the pool is allocated to customer..

Now our request is to take out 20 TB from Block and Add it to File pool.. how do i do that with out data loss or Down time

this is on VNX 7500..

Any Help would be appriciated

You can't remove drives from one pool and add it to another pool. You have to move that data from the block pool somewhere else, delete that pool and expand the second pool with unused drives.

As dynamox said, you can do that. A pool can be shared for File and Block

Use LUN Migration on the VNX to move the block LUNs from one pool to another pool. Right-click on the LUN and select migrate. It's all online and doesn't cause disruptions; the host doesn't know that the migration is occuring.

Once you migrate all the LUNs on that pool you will be able to destroy that pool and the drives will become unused. At that point you can expand the second pool by select the unused drives.
