VNXE 3100 deleted vault drives

Hello there,

following Problem:

We got a used VNXE Storage with 2 SPs. It contains 4 Vault drives and 8 "normal" drives. I tested the machine some days ago and everything worked fine. We wanted to delete all Information on the drives so we used "blanco" to overwrite them. Now the SPs are always in service mode (LED is blinking blue/amber) and Im only able to log in through console port in "service mode".

Can anybody tell me if we destroyed the drives with this action or is there anyway to recover the data on the vault drives etc.?

LG

You may need to call EMC support to recover the system.

There is a partition on each of the first disks that the VNXe3100 uses as a Vault partition.

If you have deleted these files, you will need EMC to help you put new software on the array.

We had that issue once a few years ago, and that required onsite support from a EMC tech.

This is not something that Customers or partners has the tools to do...

If they now have the posibility to do the operation remote, is not known to me...

Our Customer had to pay for this, as this was NOT covered uner the Maintenance contract...which I think is understandable..

Cheers
