VNXe Storage Pool & LUN balance question.
Folks,
Does anyone know If you grow a storage pool on a VNXe3300 will it re-balance an existing LUN across all disks?
For example let’s say you have Pool1 with 7 drives and you create a LUN, presumably that LUN will stripe across those 7 drives. If you add 7 more drives to that pool will the existing LUN re-balance across all 14 drives or remain on the original 7 and what happens to any new LUNs created?
System: VNXe3300 with code 2.2.0.17384

Agreed, it is a very complicated calculation, but in effect, you need to double the amount of disks you have in the pool currently to even have a shot at rebalancing across all disks, and even then there are some variables. Call EMC and they can tell you. Basically, whatever IOPS you want in your POOL, you need to have in the beginging. Adding news disks really just add capacity not performance on the VNXe.
