help! for VNX Unified, looking for EMC2 guide to access CIFS and NFS from new MAC OSs

hello is not clear to me how can i configure access from new MAC OSs, what user, parameter, or protocols to use.

root user, Administrator user, plain text password, use CIFS or NFS for MAC,

Everyone,  read/write access, configure from MAC OS gui or cli!!!

lot of things that need to understand but a need a guide.

Does EMC2 has a guide to do this.

i really apreciate y someone can share to me.

don't think there is a guide. What kind of environment is it ..Active directory, AFP ?

hi Dynamox,

we need procedure for both, i am sure that we have AD, but design team the ones that use MACS

maybe they are using AFP, how to be sure about this.

there is no procedure per say. VNX does not support AFP so if they are currently using it, good luck.  You need to talk to the client and find out more about their environment and what they expect from the new solution.

If you really need AFP there are commercial gateway solutions

we did look at extremez-ip, in multi OS scenario where shares need to be shared with OSX and Windows ...PITA when it comes to ACL management.

Yes I meant EZ-IP

There is also open source – good old netatalk

Or 3rd party clients like Dave that implement CIFS for older MacOS clients

No simple step-by-step procedure I’m afraid
