re assigning DAE BUS
Hi there:
I received a pre-owned VNX 5700 Block system with 5 DAE's. Now I am asked to connect all the DAE's and bring the system back. Here is what I did:
1. was able to power up SPE and connect DAE 0 using bus 0.
2. Using Unisphere I was able to connect and check the system and it said there DAE's missing.
3. Using USM I attached DAE 1 on BUS 0 - and all the disk are showing faulted ..?
Do I have follow the previous DAE bus connection in order to get the system back online...? I have started to delete all the groups/pools and LUNS...
Any suggestions would be much appreciated ...
Thanks

I'd be inclined to reinitialize it. Clean slate.

On VNX 5700 yes
on VNX2 series it's different with McX and drive portability

Looks like its better to reinitialize the array - could you please direct me to a link regarding the Block re-initialization process ..?
thanks and much appreciated...

Hi Biju ,
it seem there are remaining RG or pools on the array.
connect the DAE OS and look for old SPCollects on the SPs
In the SPCollects you will find the Hardwareinformation with serialnumber of each DAE and LCC.
With this information you can connect the DAE in the rigth order.

Hi ,
the disks on the DAEs must be in state "unbound" before you disconnect the DAEs.
The errors disappear after a powercycle of the system .
