In VPLEX environment can a host be connected to VPLEX and VMAX

We are planning to migrate few Vms to VPLEX. can we have boot luns allocated directly from VMAX and datastores from VPLEX. any thoughts

VPLEX is lun based virtualization. You can virtualize some luns and not others. I have customers that will have one server see storage through a VPLEX and backend storage like a VMAX at the same time.

Just be careful never to have the same lun presented directly to the host if it is also virtualized through VPLEX to a host.

VPLEX keeps read cache and changes made behind VPLEX (not through it) will leave the VPLEX read cache out of date.  In this situation, any future reads through VPLEX could result in getting stale data from VPLEX read cache.

We are not going to use same LUN allocated through VPLEX and VMAX. Different LUNS allocated to the same server through VMAX and VPLEX. It seems no issues with that is that correct.

You are safe using different LUNs as you stated above.  I just wanted to make sure anyone else reading this understood the correct way to do this and what to avoid.
