VPLEX Metro with SQL
How does VPLEX Metro wok with MSSQL, as MSSQL is not Active/Active? If the storage array in Site A failed how would Site B handle this from a SQL perspective? I understand how it works with RAC, but fuzzy on MSSQL. It seems there is 0 documentation on MSSQL and VPLEX.

Assuming the SQL DB is clustered with MSCS or WSFC, VPLEX Metro will synchronously replicate the data and LUNs will be r/w at both site. SQL DB is active/passive so the database will live on one site or the other and not be distributed across both sites. If the database lives on site A and it fails, the cluster software automates the movement of the resources to site B with a quick restart (no LUN trepass, failover, or manual intervention).

You are absolutely correct. VPLEX does not make MS SQL an active/active database.
VPLEX Metro enables HA for the underlying storage infrastructure across sites, which in turn enables a stretched HA MS Cluster(or any supported cluster). MS SQL instances can run on any node within that cluster and provide the ability to use MS Cluster technology to failover without any intervention to the end user across sites.
