ViPR 1+0 evaluation deployment - IPv6 ?
Hi
I hope someone might be able to sort this out:
According to the guide following the ViPR 1+0 evaluation setup, the controller should be configured with IPv4 addresses.
When deploying the OVA file, I am asked for both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses - and as a not, it is stated, that uusing '::0' as IPv6 should disable IPv6 (which is the default entry) - so this is what I choose...
Now, when powering on the deployed appliance/vm, it almost immediately complains about missing IPv6 configuration ??
Note: The OVA file is being deployed in a vCloud environment - but hopefully this is of no importance compared to a standard ESXi import of the OVA file.
Is this a bug in the documentation - or will I have to specify the IPv6 information (even though it won't be used) ?
Regards

Brian
I am experiencing the exact same issue here.
Are you using vshield?
I’ve deployed this before in a non- vshield environment and all was OK.
The environment I am working with now, and currently stuck on is using vshield
Something to do with ipv6 DHCP ?

Hi
Correct - there is a vShield configured in the vCloud environment. It will be interesting to see, if that is the component causing the issue...

Hi Brian
Since you are using vCloud ,assume vshield is in there.
I’m deploying a new instance of vipr & controller on a vCenter with no vshield to see if there is any difference.

Confirmed – my exact same deployment is working OK outside of vshield.
So there’s something funky happening with ipv6 & vshield IMO.
