ViPR-SRM in only one Physical Host
Hello Everyone.
Customer have the next configuration in its environment:
- VMAX SE
- VMAX3
- CX960
- VNX5300
- DD4500
- 2 Directores DCX8510
- Recover Point
- ExtremIO
- DMX4
- VNX7600
- DD4500
- 1 Director 48000
- Recover Point
Based in the Performance and Escalability Guide, i suggested the 4 vApps or 4 Physical Hosts. But, for some restrictions Customer is asking if could be possible in just one Physical Host have the four (Front-End, Backend - Primary y Secondary, Collector) and furthermore add more Collector ? ..
What do you think ? ... Could be ? .. start with one host with the four applications and then add more collectors ?..

It is possible to have everything installed on one physical server if it has the right specs.
Could you please share the server's specs (RAM, disk space, disk type, CPU, etc)? How many metrics the customer is expecting? How many concurrent users?

Sure.. here the information:
Server's specs:
CPU: Two Quad Core 2.7 GHz
Memory: 64 GB
disk space: Minimal available: 600 GB / Maximum available: 1.5 TB.
Concurrent users: 10
Metrics: Between 2 millions and 4 millions.

With the specs you gave, you could have one physical server with the frontends, backends, and some of the collectors installed on it. You might have to add an extra server to put in the other collectors.
I would suggest to start with one collector on the sever and test. if the test is ok, add another one and test again. keep adding till you hit a breakpoint where the performance starts to degrade.
Please note that this kind of architecture is not supported. We really recommend to have the frontend, backend and the collectors installed on different servers.

For now.. we'll install only in the physical server the frontend / primary and secondary backend / one collector ... Additional collectors will be required like new VMs ...
