Error Installing Dell Management Plug In for VMware vCenter

I recently helped a customer who received the following error upon installing the Dell Management Plug In for VMware vCenter appliance:

Error: The OVF package is invalid and cannot be deployed.

Message: Network card "VirtualE1000" has a DVPort backing, which is not supported.  This could be because the host does not support VDS or because the host has not joined a VDS.

Upon further research, we determined that ESXi host the appliance is being put on can not be part of a virtual distributed switch (VDS). 

The Fix: remove the ESXi host from the VDS, add the appliance, then re-join the host to the VDS as needed.
