OpenManage Server Administrator on vSphere ESXi 4.1
Dear,
We just ordered two new R710 servers to replace our existing (and rather old) Poweredge servers running ESX3.5.
Question is : are we going to install vSphere ESX 4.1 or ESXi 4.1 on these servers ?
One of the decision criteria is the ability to use OpenManage Server Administrator yes or no. I know it works fine on ESX, but what about ESXi ?
When reading the information on this site (http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smsom/6.3/en/omsa_ig/html/instesxi.htm) : it seems like a peace of cake to use OMSA on ESXi.
However, when I contact Dell Pro Support, I'm adviced to NOT run OMSA on ESXi, since it is not yet officialy released. They know about setups where it runs, as a testing environment, but they discourage to install it in a production environment.
Does someone here has any experience with this particular setup ?
