No wireless internet connectivity

When connected to my router by ethernet cable, everything works fine. Unfortunately my Dell latitude D630 no longer connects to the internet wirelessly via my wireless 4 port router even though it has with no problems for years previously. I believe the problem started after trying to install AVG 2011 (paid version) which brought everything to a crawl. Reading the forums, others had encountered similar issues when upgrading from version 9 to  2011, and said it had interfered with explorer.

I'm going to uninstall NOD32 as I've been instructed that this may have caused an issue when installing AVG.

So I uninstalled AVG, and did a systems restore to a date prior to the installation, but this hasn't solved the situation.

Symptoms are:

  • Wireless network connection status says i'm connecting at 54mbps to my wireless router
  • However, I cannot browse, connect to ISP mail server or use any other internet service

I really don't know for sure if AVG has anything to do with my connectivity issue, however It was suggested by another forum that I post on this forum in case there is some malware interfering with my wireless connectivity. Log file posted below as instructed.

Any assistance gratefully accepted. thanks.

Hi Voskie,

Welcome to Dell Community Malware Removal Forums,

Sorry for the delay in getting to you, I'm K27 and i will be reviewing your log for you.

Please DO NOT run any scans/tools/fixes on your own as this will conflict with the tools we are going to use.

Please Print or Save to Notepad all instructions and please follow them carefully and if there's something you don't understand or that will not work please let me know and we will go through it together.

Please DO NOT use this system for anything apart from visiting this forum and other sites I direct you too, as this will only make the cleanup process all the more diffecult.

Failure to reply in three (3) days will result in this topic being closed and I will remove it from my notifications, If you require more time then that is fine but please let me know.

Please tell me, is this a Corporate machine?

Thanks.

No, not a corporate machine - privately owned.

Yes, I've brought the machine I've been using there from the company, for my own personal use.

Ok, Is the machine in a work environment connected to there network or is the connection an old one that can be removed.

Thanks.

It's an old one that can be removed - however I was going to take it in to their premises to see if I can still get connectivity and internet - this could tell me whether its an issue with just my home wireless router (if it works okay on their wireless network) or whether its an issue on my machine with the wireless card, or maybe something else such as malware software.

I've got this sorted thanks.

Doesn't appear to be a malware issue afterall - just an IP conflict on the network that was preventing internet connectivity over the wireless connection.
