Either be careful to UNcheck any pre-checked offers for bundled programs/toolbars (unless you really want them)...
in particular, be very careful to look for pre-checked offers to install
avast antivirus and/or
Google Chrome browser...
or else, use the
SLIM build (which is already available) .

I also note that this version forces itself into the startup list, and its default is to run a scan at startup. This startup scan can be disabled in Options>Settings, but the only way I found to prevent CCleaner from loading at startup was to disable it in Task Manager>Startup tab.
When you run a scan, and close the program, it still stays resident in your notification tray, running in the background. A right click on the icon to exit the program is required.
Finally, I have stopped enabling "anonymous" feedback to Piriform in Options>Privacy. The links to its privacy policy in this tab do not work. My trust in Piriform has been eroded in recent times.
