Updates 4/9/19 - "Microsoft+Adobe" Tuesday, CCleaner, Thunderbird, SAS

Today is "Microsoft Tuesday" --- the SECOND Tuesday of the month --- on which Microsoft is expected to release its monthly cycle of Windows security updates. Based on previous history, they should become available at 1 P.M. [USA - Eastern DAYLIGHT SAVING Time]

Adobe has released security updates for Adobe Acrobat DC and Reader DC, for Windows.  

 Version 2019.010.20099

 

These updates address critical vulnerabilities that could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.

This month's tool adds detection/removal of Kryptomix , a threat which "provides attackers backdoor access to infected machines. To stay persistent and evade detection, this threat attempts to turn off Windows Defender Antivirus and adds itself as an authorized application to the Windows Defender Firewall. This threat can spread through removable drives".

in particular, be very careful to look for pre-checked offers to install avast antivirus and/or Google Chrome browser...
