•Fixed a security issue of arbitrary code execution when opening certain PDF files.
•Fixed an unexpected termination issue of Foxit Reader when opening certain PDF files in a web browser.
•Fixed an issue where the page content cannot be displayed when opening certain PDF files in a web browser.
•Fixed an issue where the desktop icons would be rearranged automatically when creating the desktop icon of Foxit Reader 5.0 during installation on Windows XP.
•Fixed an issue where the file name would be a messy code or its extension would be missed when emailing certain PDF files from a web browser.
•Recovered the Print Scale function which was available in pre 5.0 versions

Current users cannot yet update over the old 4.x via the internal updater. You must get it here:

Comment:

Supported by the following systems:

•Microsoft Windows® XP Home, Professional, or Tablet PC Edition with Service Pack 2 or 3 (32-bit & 64-bit).
•Windows Vista® Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with or without Service Pack 1 (32-bit & 64-bit).
•Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit).

Foxit Reader is a lightweight alternative to Adobe Reader, for those who need only a pdf reader, and not all the bells and whistles of Adobe. It is also a far smaller target than Adobe for malware.

It does try to sneak in the questionable Ask toolbars and homepage, however. Be sure to uncheck all such options during installation.
