virus has affected my wireless access

I have fakespypro virus affecting my computer and I think it has knocked out my wireless card on my laptop. It is an inspiron 1521 with windows vista. I run microsoft security essentials to clean it but it just quarantines the virus. When I try to access my wireless network at home. It says none are available. I have to connect with a network cable. And then I can only run Firefox, Internet Explorer can not connect. I reinstalled the driver for the wireless card with the driver dell provided for my computer (Dell_multi-device_A17_R174292). It worked the first time and I was able to connect to my wireless network. I then later rebooted the computer but the virus came on and I lost the wireless network access again. I tried reinstalling the driver but it gives an error that the device I am providing a driver for does not exist on this computer. Not sure what to tackle first, the virus, the wireless card, or the driver? Any help would be much appreciated.
