VOSTRO 220S - is yours still going?
G'day everyone,
Does anyone still have their old Vostro 220S machines still going?
My old Vostro 220S that I have here is now over 10 years old (Delivered 03/03/2010) and is still going strong.
It is almost never turned off, except for occasional power failures, once in a blue moon cleaning or once for a RAM, Processor and HDD upgrade.
It was originally supplied with an E5400 2.7GHz Pentium 4, a 160Gb HDD and 2Gb RAM, it now contains a E8500 3.16GHz Core 2 Duo, a 1Tb HDD and 4Gb RAM. (Which is the maximum for the machines chipset.)
It has been in this configuration for nearly 5 years now and has run various operating systems from Windows Vista to Windows 10 Pro. (It even had a shot with a couple of version of Linux)
It's done everything that has been asked of it so far, from (limited) gaming through to operating as a Media Server for the home network.
It's been a great little machine for us.
I've been a Dell user for over 15 years now, my latest Dell is a 7 year old Latitude E6430 Laptop (With the Dell Docking Station) which also runs 24/7 and which is still under warranty until November 2021!
What's your Dell VOSTRO 220S story?
