Dell Vostro 3500 max ram supported?

Hi All,

by specification:

- 2 slots for RAM

- allowed memory: 2x4GB, 2x8GB and 1x16GB

That is very stranges... Im about 1x16gb allowed and worked, but 2x16 not allowed.

By CPU specification: corei3/5/7 gen11 support RAM up 64GB

Has anyone tried installing 2x16gb ram?

ps. The technical support service could not explain what the problem was?

According to Crucial the maximum supported is 64 GB. That information can be found here. I am assuming you have the Vostro 15 3500. And if the RAM is not compatible it can be returned to Crucial for a refund. I am assuming the discrepancy may be because Dell has not tested anything beyond 16 GB in the 3500.

JOcean, thx for your reply, i know this:

- i was check CPU spec

- i was check supported memory

The main problem, i dont want to buy ram for testing, because in russia, i must prove

that the purchased memory is not suitable for my notebook.

I asked support and answer was next:

- according hw spec: maximum supported RAM=16GB

Then I asked why, if the processor specification allows a maximum memory capacity of 64GB and the laptop specification specifies support for the 16GB ram for only one slot, what is the reason?

Is it efi-bios limit or motherboard architecture?

Answer from Support: We cannot give such information.

Why I must buy memory for experiments? I am ready to do this if there are certain guarantees.

What is the secret of this information?

In my humble opinion, it's not fair to hide such information from your customers.

Note that there are two different Vostro 3500 systems -- one from about 2011 (which is the one the last post asks about) and one from 2021 (which is the subject in the first posts of this thread).

Hi, I tested mine Vostro, year 2021. I3 11gen with 32gb RAM.

16x2 Kingston 3200mhz, double channel.

I'm assuming that will also work with 64gb because that's processor max.
