Brand new Vostro 5490 here. It seems like Dell brought back the stupid content adaptive brightness that when on battery dims the screen when something dark is on it. This absolutely won't work for me and photo editing and will be sent back if I don't get it resolved quickly.
I've looked in the advanced power settings under display, and the only option is "Turn Display Off After"
Also, the Intel Graphics software only has "disable game mode" under the power options.
Any suggestions before returning it?

You can disable this in BIOS/UEFI. Press F2 during startup and search for that option.
@jwrzesien thanks for pointing that out. For me, the adaptive brightness issue fixed by accessing the BIOS Setup menu, and under Video, and disabling the EcoPower.
