All deployments of ScaleIO can use ESRS. Even if not using ScaleIO Ready nodes.

Communication between the ScaleIO system and ESRS servers is now supported with ScaleIO 2.0.0+  See Current Release Notes 2.0.0+ on www.support.emc.com

ScaleIO will see some errors related to hardware, like drive failures, when running on any hardware.

For customers wanting to deploy with ESX on ScaleIO Ready Nodes, we do have an M&O product call AMS (Automated Management Services), that runs outside of the cluster, configures and manages everything in the cluster. It is free and  includes hardware monitoring with call home via ESRS. It also is able to update ESX and ScaleIO in a few clicks.

Today, if ScaleIO Ready Nodes are used without AMS, the hardware monitoring will need to be done with Dell tools, which are very mature. We are exploring how to add hardware monitoring to ESRS for all deployment types in the future to simplify things.

Thank you,

Jason

Hello Ishiura, The ScaleIO Gateway includes the REST Gateway, the Installation Manager (IM), and the SNMP trap sender and ESRS functionality. The Gateway relies on the presence of the LIA on every server.  For LIA server configuration, see ScaleIO Deployement Guide: https://support.emc.com/docu67393_ScaleIO-2.0-Deployment-Guide.pdf?language=en_US The Alerts view provides a list of the alert messages currently active in the system, in table format. You can filter the table rows according to alert severity, and according to object types in the system. For a list of alerts generated by the system, see Table 34, “ScaleIO Alerts SNMP, GUI, REST and ESRS” In the ScaleIO Users Guide (link below).  To view a Property Sheet for a specific alert, select the corresponding row in the table, and click the Show Property Sheet button. For more information about Property Sheets, see “Property Sheets” on page 364 of the ScaleIO User Guide : https://support.emc.com/docu67392_ScaleIO-2.0-User-Guide.pdf?language=en_US For the table which describes each alert, and the actions to be taken for each one, See Table 34 ScaleIO Alerts SNMP, GUI, REST and ESRS  starting page 723.                             Regards, Angie
