Login to slave MDM

If a primary MDM goes down, how do I login to the slave using the GUI?  I cannot login to the slave when the primary is up.

Hello andan02,

I see what you are asking, You use the master IP or the name for the MDM cluster to log in. When the master goes down, then you can log into the slave via IP or Name of the MDM cluster. When the master comes back up, you can do a CLI switch master command to go back to the original master or stay with your slave which is now the new master and let the old master become the slave for the MDM cluster.

You cannot access the slave via SCLI or GUI if the master MDM is still up.

When the MDM Master goes down, you then log into the GUI by stating the Slave IP plus credentials.

For 2.0 ScaleIO, I am able to log into my cluster with either MDM IP just fine.

Your stating that the slave ip will not accept logins until the master goes down?

Mine does not allow me to login with the GUI.  What can I try with scli to determine what the problem is?

[root@css-c-sdlc-021 ~]# scli --login --mdm_ip 10.202.46.31 --username admin --password admin

Error: Failed to connect to MDM 10.202.46.31:6611

on the 46.31 node

[root@css-c-sdlc-022 logs]# netstat -apn | grep 6611

tcp        0      0 10.202.46.31:34123      10.202.46.30:6611       ESTABLISHED -

its talking to the primary, but its not listening on 6611 - best I can tell.  So logging into secondary doesn't sound like it will work.

Hello andan02,

I should have started off with this question, what version of ScaleIO are you using? There are changes between 1.3x.x and 2.0.

You are correct.  I failed the primary and was able to login to the secondary.  Thank you. Solved.
