Can't install application on the D: drive in Windows 10 Pro.

I have an Inspiron 3050 with small C drive. I connected a 1tb external hard drive as my D drive which is working fine.

In Windows 10, went to  Settings -> System -> Storage.

Screen shows "New Location" pull-down menus for photos, music, documents, videos etc. that permits specification of the D drive for each category but pull-down menu for
"Applications" is greyed out. Can't select an alternative to the C: drive
for "Applications".

How can I specify the D: drive to install other application software?

You must install all programs/applications on the C drive with windows or they will not work. The tiny 3050 is usually used as a second computer since it is too small to use as your main computer. Use it for getting emails and surfing the web.

Isn't it possible to set up a Symbolic Link from the C drive to the D (1tb) drive? If yes, do you know how?
