Inspiron 15R N5010, Windows 10
Has anyone upgraded that machine to Win 10 from Win 7? Did you experience any problems? Everything works fine?

Upgraded to Windows 10 on 31-Aug-2015. But facing issue with Bluetooth & Intel HD Display driver however it automatically updated the sound, touch pad, Wireless, display drivers . And for Bluetooth no luck .... ;) Sometimes the "Windows Explorer" gets hanged... During start up, touch pad works after 1-2 minute......
Hope this helps.. Waiting DELL to release updated drivers asap ....

I tried updating my wife's n5110 and everything went good until the final reboot. When it hung up and I lost everything. Can't even get the original Windows to restore.

I upgrded my N5010 to windows 10 and the IDT High Definition Audio doesnt work. I tried everything mentioned in the Microsoft forum for the issue, still its the same.
I even tried installing from the CD that came with the laptop for Win 7, but even that doesnt work.
Please let me know if there's any update available for the the audio driver.

Works lyk charm .......... ;) Just you need to install Dot Net Framework v3.5, so that all the drivers which are designed in v3.5 framework for Win 7 will be run smoothly ....

I will have bought new laptop by the end of 2020 when Win7 support comes to the end. Upgrading N5010 is to risky and random. If something goes wrong, you'll lose your recovery partition. And Win 7 runs smoothly
Win 10 hasn't got any new features that can be crucial or even useful for me. I'll buy new laptop with new OS but now I'm going to stay with Win 7.

Hi RAMYAKRS,
Hv u installed Dot NET framework v 3.5 ?
U can refer this link @
http://www.techgainer.com/tools/net-framework-3-5-offline-installer-windows-10-8-x/
Yesterday by mistakenly , I hv installed IDT sound driver although Win 10 had automatically installed the required sound drivers during installation And that IDT works fine . No issue..
Cheers,

Too many problems are reported by users. N5010 won't be supported by DELL. You will have bought new machine by the end on 2020 (end of W7 support). It's better idea then running W10 on 10 years old machine. Additionally, W7 runs smoothly and have all the features I need

I tried updating a n5110 and have regretted it ever since. Completely wiped out the OS. It hung on one of the final boots and left me with nothing. I was on the phone with Dell just today for over 2 hours and their reply was a $259 software warranty. I was told that there is going to be a fix for the W10 update but as far as right now I don't advise it. That being said I do have 8.1 on there right now and it is working fine. One poster replied and said that I should have updated the Bios which I did afterwards.

Upgraded a week ago. No issues on my N5010 with the exception of the bluetooth driver, which is evidently not supported. The upgrade was painless, though I do recommend applying all the Win7 patches and updates before upgrading to 10. Hopefully Dell will support the bluetooth driver soon!
