Installing English Windows 10 on a Japanese Inspiron
This isn’t an answer to a question but I thought someone else (like me yesterday) would appreciate the information. Installing English Windows 10 on an auction-bought Japanese Inspiron 24-5475. Thought I was in trouble with this one. The system was a great deal but came with Japanese Windows 10 Home. Ninety percent of the menus can be switched to English using the language pack but that still leaves a lot of components installed with Japanese drivers. I wanted a clean English installation but I didn’t have an English Windows 10 Home recovery USB stick. Discovered Philip Yip’s guide https://youtu.be/LJGwOIgusnE
Created the recovery USB (with all versions included), installed and Windows 10 auto-activated. All drivers were auto-installed but I’m still checking each one and where necessary replacing a generic driver with the DELL version. It’s a nice-looking all-in-one. Wish it had analogue brightness/contrast controls and so far it seems like installing Windows 7 is impossible.
