It addresses a security concern. In general such updates are recommended especially if marked Urgent. However the following article seems to disagree.

I am a user with a Dell Inspiron 20-3052 on Windows 10 64 bit.  My computer is up to date with all Windows and Dell Updates.  When I run the latest version of Dell Support Assist I get an "Urgent" notice to update the Intel AMT HCEI (spelling?) Management Engine Driver 1846.12.0.1177.  When I process the update it FAILS with no explanation about why or what to do about it.  Any information about how a user is to resolve this?  Is this something I need to contact Dell support to resolve (at a cost?)?

I have the same issue with this update on an Inspiron 5860 running windows 10

I went through tech support who said it is not a hardware issue and transferred me to Software tech support who wants to charge me to fix this problem

I don't think I should pay to have the problem fixed

The problem is Missing Chipset Drivers and a user who has Wiped the drive.
