Windows 10 2004 doesn't work with older video cards

I had a Dell XPS 8000 (2009 vintage) with a Dell Nvidia GTS 240 card. I wasn't being offered the Windows 10 May 2020 update (2004). After looking on Microsoft (links in the sticky) it says that there is a minimum Nvidia driver version required. I contacted Nvidia who said that the driver for my card was not going to be updated and that I would need to get a newer video card (Pascal architecture) or wait and see if Nvidia and Microsoft could resolve their issues. Seeing that I'm not a gamer and the only reason I was buying a new card was so I could keep current in Windows, I got a Nvidia Geforce GT 1030 which wasn't too expensive. Installed it today and when I went to Windows update, the Windows 10 update was being offered. I guess I should consider myself lucky that it's the first time I've had a problem with Windows due to hardware since 2009.

Just a heads up for those of you with older systems.
