Could Dell security software prevent good installation of Corel Video Studio?
I just bought a Dell Precision M6800 (running Windows 8.1 Pro) specifically for the purpose of editing HD video. I installed Corel Video Studio Pro X 8 and am able to edit MP4 files but ACVHD (M2TS) files cause the program to crash immediately. I have installed the software on my Asus desktop (running Windows 8.1) and the program works perfectly, so it is likely not a problem with the software. I have wondered if the Dell security software might be interfering with a clean install of the Corel program. Of course, neither Dell nor Corel will help. I have the NVIDIA card. All my drivers are up to date.
Has anyone had such an issue or do you know how to disable the security software so I can see if it is the problem?

If you have McAfee still installed, try to remove it see here:
