No way to restore .INF files?

Hello, 2 days ago my XPS 8500 had a failure with Windows 8, something along the lines of an important corrupt file. So, I used Dell Backup & Recovery and it gave me the option to back up some stuff to my HDD. Once I got Windows 8 online agian, I put my backup back on my computer, but it isn't usable since everything is in an .INF format. Is there not any way to recover these documents?

It fails to recognize this folder as a backup archive.

This is a shame, I fork out over $800 on this computer, the damn OS fails, and then there's no way to recover my data.
