Processor upgrade for Windows 8.1 to run on XPS400 DXP051.

Windows 8 will not upgrade to Win 8.1 since Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80Ghz does not support PrefetchW..  Can anyone suggest a processor that will work on a 0F030 Dell motherboard?  What other inof is needed to answer my question?

I assume you have Windows 8.0 64 Bit and are trying to install Windows 8.1 64 Bit which has elevated system requirements. Its unknown why Microsoft done this for a service pack.

In this case you should install Windows 8.1 32 Bit which doesn't have the elevated requirements. Theres no advantage in 64 Bit on this system as it likely has 4 GB of RAM or less.

The easiest way of doing this is installing Windows 7 32 Bit without a product key using a Digital River .iso:

Then following the workaround here to download the Windows 8.1 retail .iso to clean install with:

I do have 4 GB of RAM and I also have a Windows 8 32 disk and 64 disk.  Disk sent from MS after upgrading XP to Windows 8 via purchased download.  Would the 8/32 work vice W7?  Seems to me it might and that is what I was planning to do and then upgrade via Windows Store to 8.1  if I couldn't find a processor upgrade..  Planning on a clean install to Win 8 32 and then Store to 8.1.  Is there an error in my thinking?

Thanks for your rapid response; much appreciated, natakuc4
