Recovery media Creation

I'm using dell inspiron 3542 preinstalled windows 8.1

I want to upgrade to win 10 by availing free offer but I want to create a recovery media of existing OS win 8.1 to use incase of something failure

NOW

I have two options to create recovery derive or media

1: Dell Backup and Recovery program provided by dell which is preinstalled!

2: Create Recovery derive tool which is available in windows 8.1

Suggest me which is the best option and how its better from other?

also which media should I use USB or DVDs?

please as well mention method to use/test recovery media after creation of recovery media whether its okay or not?

THANKS

Never use DVDs for a new system as they cannot be booted from in a UEFI BIOS with SecureBoot and in general end users burnt DVDs are unreliable and have been in the mpast the most problematic form of Reinstallation Media.

Dell Backup and Recovery Creates a system image, complete with Dell preinstalled software and drivers. The Windows 8.1 Media Creation Tool makes only Windows 8.1 Reinstallation Media. See here for details:
