Website error. Can't download drivers
I'm unable to access the drivers for hardware. The website gives me an error every time I try to access the page before searching for drivers.

Hi Karolinger,
The support.dell.com page is under maintenance now, it might take a day or two for the website to function properly, please try to download the drivers tomorrow.
Please reply for any other information.

Hello,
Wow, under maintenance for a day or two ?
Now that everywone needs to update his drivers for the new windows 8 ?
I don't think that this was the best timing for a maintenance, don't you think ?
Regards.

I kind of have to agree with that one. I was preparing to deploy Windows 8 on my Precision notebook for testing so I wanted to see if there were any Windows 8 specific drivers I needed to know about first. I guess I get to see how well the Windows Update site can find drivers for my laptop in the meantime.

Why on earth isn't there a message to say that the site is under maintenance rather than just returning an error (after a long wait) each time it's accessed?

Chris-J-D, slowecsl,
What specific Dell models are you needing driver information?

Hello!
I need ALL the windows 8 drivers for Inspiron 14z 5423.
This is absolutely crazy Dell, how on earth was it ever a good idea to do a update right when the system will be at the highest load!? This is why you've lost a little reputation over the last few years. It's the little things people remembers.
Also if for some absolutely insane reason you had to do it. Why not put that as a message instead of returning an error?
Aswell, why is it only with the newer Win8 drivers it returns this error?

Hi Ben,
The eSupport team is reporting that customers are now able to search for their service tags and products on the eSupport site.
Thanks for your patience,
Lorna

That's not the issue...
The issue is actually downloading said driver.

+1. Dell, you have REALLY dropped the ball on this one! Totally unacceptable for this to happen on the Windows 8 launch day unless your server is stressed due to high traffic. All of your customers who want to install Windows 8 are totally at your mercy since we need (or at least SHOULD have) the Windows 8 bios and drivers before the install. Totally unacceptable.

That is indeed the case... You can search for your service tag and get the XPS 17 (702x) drivers page and actually see the file names.
But all the links are broken!
"Maintenance" schmaintenance. You fubared since you updated the web page but forgot the actual drivers. As somone wrote before .. If it actually was maintenance you place a maintenance marker on the whole site, not just "Sorry, the file cannot be downloaded" on individual files. It's not rocket science.

This!
I can get 1-2 of the drivers but not the essential ones, and more importantly not the BIOS.

Be careful as everytime you re-download it shows a different set.
Make sure they all say W8 in the title.

yeah, I'm aware of that. It's not that user friendly...
