Hi snim
I would like to know, the operating system disc which you are using have you received from Dell.
Also, I would request you to provide me the system service tag or the express service code in a private message so that I check the account details and help you further. To send a private message, please click on my name highlighted in blue. On the next page, click the envelope icon and provide your system service tag along phone number and best time to reach you.
Please reply if you have further question.
Thanks & Regards

If you are UK OR US Dell customer,Dell can send Recovery Media to You which includes Win8 OS too..For other countries, contact Dell support.
Also probably ,you may not have completely lost your recovery partition & it may have been hidden since.
Use this tool & you may recover your partition

Hi,
I bought a new Dell Inspiron Ultrabook with a Bios Win 8 product key. the problem is that for some reason, this key is blocked. Dell gave me a new key which works but every 15 mins or so, the msg to activate windows comes up. When I checked in system, I can see that Windows somehow goes back to the blocked bios key. I have to activate it every 15 mins!! How can I solve this? Can I replace the blocked bios key with the new key I have which works?
I tried Formatting (factory state) with recovery disks, through the Dell recovery console and also through the Windows Control Panel. All to no avail.
thanks
Nick

Hi amgadtoma,
On a Dell system the product key is encrypted on the motherboard, while installing the Operating system, the system will not prompt for the product key. If in case you entered the product key, let me know from where you got the product key.
May I know how you are trying to install the Operating system? Is it from the discs sent by Dell or from the retail version?

Hi amgadtoma,
There are two possible ways of restoring windows 8 to factory settings. They are “Refresh” and “Reset”.
Refresh: The Refresh option is primarily a repair method. It is a great method of returning your PC to a known good state while preserving your files and a great deal of your configuration. With the refresh your PC option, user accounts, data files, and some settings are preserved on your PC without the need to create a backup, or make choices about what to keep or remove.
Reset: This is similar to a PC restore. This option, also called Reset your PC is useful when a PC is changing hands, or when you want to get a completely fresh start on a PC, with no previous files or configuration retained. This option, also called Reset your PC is useful when a PC is changing hands, or when you want to get a completely fresh start on a PC, with no previous files or configuration retained.
To Refresh windows 8 please follow the below mentioned steps:
To reset the windows 8 to factory settings please follow the below mentioned steps:
(Note: Reset option will delete the data from the computer)
Please reply for any further help.

The BIOS update should not influence the product key. If you are sceptical read the product key before the BIOS update and save it as a .txt file. Install RWEverything and then select access then ACPI tables... then get the key from the MSDM table.

I dont know what to do anymore. I just reset Windows 10 AGAIN. Full format of c:\ and it even asked me if i wanted to clear all keys before the install of Windows (which i did). 2 hours later. Enterprise key STILL in there. Not able to activate. I cannot get this thing back to Home edition for the life of me. Home edition is what is in BIOS. any thoughts?
