AHCI-Driver for DELL XPS 17 (WinXP)

Hello everybody,

I would like to install Windows XP beside Ubuntu on my DELL XPS 17 L702X. But when I try to, I get this error message: "setupldr: couldnt open drive xy".

Because of that I need the AHCI-Driver for Windows XP. Is there such a driver?

Hi honzi97,

XPS 17 is shipped with Windows 7 and Windows 8. Hence, the drivers for Windows XP are not available. I suggest you to change the SATA Operation in the BIOS from AHCI to ATA and try installing Windows XP.

Please let me know about your findings.

Well, I already tried installing Windows XP with ATA. Didn't work for me. When I try to install Win7 I get this error message: 'Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.'
