Active X

On certain websites A window open up saying that I must click to run Activ X Control.  What is Active X and are there any problems in running it.

ActiveX Controls are software components that, among other things, enable website content using Internet Explorer. They can also be used to download malware, and there's the rub. Unless you trust the website, don't enable ActiveX when prompted.
Alternatively, you can use a different browser such as Firefox or Opera, which don't use ActiveX.
